Illustrate the saying ”The changes of language teaching methods are basically evolutionary rather than revolutionary in nature?

As evidenced by the changes of language teaching methods involving evolutionary and revolutionary in nature. The revolution of English teaching had sprung from the learning of Latin or Greek which was adopted as the thief means for teaching foreign language, but to learn for the sake of being “scholarly”. After that period the evolution emerged from teacher- central and student-central to interaction from 1940s to present. The dynamics of methodological change are categorized into three processes.
The first stage (1940s to 1960s)was shown the teacher- central . It accounted structuralism and behaviorism which concentrated on fundamental elements and drills. The theory operated the ALM(Audio-lingual Method) and focused on grammar usage and use. The second stage (1960s to 1980s)was student-central. It depended on congitivism and functionalism which was shown knowing ,silent way and found out the reasons. The third stage(1980s to now) is developing the interaction between students and teachers which stood attempts to reform constructivism , humanism. And the language teaching emphasizes on content-based methods what teacher can provide in authentic uses of the second language in the classroom, without recourse to translation from the first language.
When the school of thought have come and gone, so have language teaching trends waxed and waned in popularity. The factors of evolutionary description on three stages suggest the way of approach in nature.
To sum up, teaching methodology with each new methods during the breaking from the old but at same time taking with it some of the positive aspects of the previous paradigm.
